Winter Animal Tracking and Guided SnowshoeWinter animal tracking 2018 Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

Winter is the perfect season to look for signs of animal life in the woods. Join Conservation Sudbury for our 7th Annual Winter Animal Tracking and Guided Snowshoe Hike.

When: Sunday, February 25, 2018
Where: Nature Chalet (2309 South Bay Rd.
Time: 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.

Participants will take a guided snowshoe tour with a nature interpreter and discover a winter forest full of life!

Would you recognize the tracks of a snowshoe hare or a red fox? Find out what kind of tracks can be seen at the Conservation Area! All ages welcome; snowshoes will be provided free of charge. The Nature Chalet will be open to warm up and to enjoy complimentary hot chocolate.

Friends and Family Ice Fishing Day

Join Conservation Sudbury for our 6th annual Friends and Family Ice Fishing Day!Winter Family Fest 2018

When: Sunday, February 18th, 2018
Where: at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area Nature Chalet (2309 South Bay Rd.)
Time: 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m.

That weekend is an Ontario Family Fishing weekend, so no fishing licenses are required. Ice fishing activities will include learning proper catch and release techniques and making your own ice fishing rod from a stick. Ice augers, gear and free bait will be available courtesy of our partners, the OFAH Tackleshare program, Ramakko’s and the Sudbury Game and Fish Protective Association.

Round out the day with building a snowman or sculpture on the lake, or going for a snowshoe out on the lake or hiking trails – snowshoes and maps will be available for free.

Warm up at any time at the Nature Chalet or by our outdoor fire and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate. All ages are welcome!

Winter Family Fun Day at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

Looking for something to do with the whole family outdoors? Come out to the Winter Family Fun Day at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

When: Saturday, January 27, 2018
Where: Nature Chalet (2309 South Bay Rd.)
Time: 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m.

There will be free snowshoe rentals to try out the trails or a hike on the lake, warm up with the KICX Winter Warm-Up Crew, and toast marshmallows over a campfire.

All ages are welcome. The Nature Chalet will be open to warm up and to enjoy complimentary hot chocolate.

Christmas Bird Count for Kids at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area

Are you and your family always wondering what bird that is visiting your feeders? Come out and take part in Conservation Sudbury’s fifth annual Christmas Bird Count for Kids!

When: Sunday, January 7th
Where: Lake Laurentian Conservation Area Nature Chalet (2309 South Bay Rd.)
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Feed the Birds, Feed the People - the donation of a non-perishable food item to support the Food Bank is requested. Space is limited to 25 youth participants (ages 6-12 recommended), and their adult family members.
